There is a new trend going around that I have been interested in trying out for over a year – Glamping. You’ve probably figured out what that means, Glamorous Camping, of course! One of the biggest problems that venues out in the Hill Country encounter with their clients is the lack of hotel options. Most people end up having to bus their guests back and forth from Austin to their venue, but wouldn’t it be cool if your whole wedding party could stay ON SITE the entire weekend, in a glamorous tent?
I know what you’re thinking, “Who wants to stay in a tent over their wedding weekend?” I was skeptical myself. So, I gave it a try! For my son’s 1st birthday, we rented out the ever beautiful Blue Rock Estate Venue in Dripping Springs for the weekend, and we worked with Contentment Camping Rentals to design a colorful and comfortable set up for our family and friends who came in to celebrate with us. The tents were even nicer than I had imagined. First of all, they were HUGE. You have the choice of one queen bed, two twin beds or four cots. We ended up with queens in all of our tents, but just to give you an idea of the inside, there was enough room for a king or even two queens!
The beds were incredibly comfortable with soft sheets and a cosy blanket. We had a small table with two chairs, a rug just outside the tent to leave our shoes, lanterns and even a beautiful arrangement of hydrangea (my favorite flower) to welcome guests.
We found this to be such a unique and fun solution to the problem of not having enough beds or rooms in one place to fit all of our family. All of our guests were incredibly comfortable, had their own space and no one felt that they were imposing on anyone. Not to mention the uniqueness of the experience. The tents were such a hit, we are considering doing this exact same set up every year for our son’s birthday!
Kelly and her staff at Contentment were awesome to work with. As an event planner, this is a big one for me. If I have a vendor that doesn’t respond in a timely manner, doesn’t seem to be a team player and isn’t flexible, I’m unlikely to want to work with them again. Kelly was the opposite of all those things. She was quick to respond, a total team player and flexible on last minute additions and set up and tear down times. I highly recommend Contentment Camping for anyone looking for a unique and fun way to host a large group of people for birthday parties, weddings, family gatherings or any occasion when you want a great excuse to camp, without roughing it.
